The Snow Farm have again offered us a weekend at Musterers Hut (the same hut we stayed in last year) on the 22/23 of July. This year we will be charged a discounted rate of $12pp for the hut and $48pp for the area pass, ski, boot and pole hire. So altogether $60pp. Families welcome and I have 24 spaces booked. It has gas rings for cooking (re-warming food is easier) water is supplied but it’s in containers rather than from a tap. All utensils, crockery etc are provided and lighting is supplied from solar power and batteries. There are 3 bunk-rooms for 8 people in each. Our packs will be transported to and from the hut by skidoo.
What you will need: A good sleeping bag, pillow, head torch, food for dinner, breakfast and 1 or 2 lunches and nibbles….bring some games etc for the evening? A light back-pack for skiing with is also a good idea. There is no food available at the Snow Farm Lodge. Warm clothes for night and wind-proof outer clothing including gloves (2 pairs), woollen inner layers, a good beanie, sun glasses etc. Cross-country skiing will keep you warm and first time visitors tend to over-dress.
It’s 4.5km from the Snow Farm Lodge to the hut and shouldn’t take longer than a couple of hours at the most to get out there. I can give you a lesson if need be before we head out so I would suggest we arrive at the Farm not later than midday on Saturday 22nd, get fitted out with gear, have a practice and then head off.
Ideally, I would like at least 6 parents to be part of the group to help with transport etc and I would like confirmation by the 7th July please. So if there’s not enough interest the Snow Farm can offer the spaces to others. All huts are fully booked for the season!
